Sanders Wants to Impeach Trump
Impeachment of President Donald Trump is what most people are hearing from the lips of the Democrats these days.
Even among the Democrats calling for impeachment there are those that are questioning if it the right time to start them or not.
The Democratic House is divided and there is no way that they can accomplish anything with that kind of support.
This past week Bernie Sanders mentioned that he may think it is time for the President to be impeached.
He felt that it should be time for the House Judiciary Committee to start the process.
He stated, “I do understand where House members are coming from.
And you’ve got this guy who is refusing to respect the Constitution, equal powers, and is rejecting requests for members of the administration to come forward.”
It is something to think through that the Democrats are calling for the President to respect equal powers, and they are seeking to take all the power for themselves.
The Democrats have made it clear that they do not agree with the President’s policies and are using their powers to try to destroy him anyway that they can.
Instead of fighting against him, use the powers to come up with a workable alternative.
Sanders also said, “So, you know, I think it may be time at least to begin the process through the Judiciary Committee to determine whether there are impeachment proceedings.”
The latest move by the White House informing Don McGahn to not honor a subpoena from the House Committee has led to a number of Democratic leaders to impeach the President.
The impeachment process is a lengthy process and needs the cooperation of the House and the Senate.
The House can call for the proceedings but it is the Senate that actually does the work of impeachment.
There has to be clear evidence of wrong doing, according to the constitution.
The wording of the constitution has been interpreted differently throughout time, but the Senate is the branch of government that must decide to remove a seated President.
Much of the speculation for impeachment is stemming from the Mueller investigation.
The Democratic leaders were not happy with the findings and are trying to change the meaning of the report.
In their minds the only recourse to get the power they want is to remove the President that stands in their way.
Nancy Pelosi has also urged her party against moving forward with the impeachment process.
She believes as does Bernie Sanders that the Democratic Party needs to stay focused and not jump off the wagon and pursue things prematurely.
Many of the younger Democrats want to start the process. They would do well to listen to and learn from their more seasoned leaders.
Bernie Sanders has also stated, “The House has got to continue going forward, raising the minimum wage to a living wage, making sure that all of our people have health care, dealing with climate change, dealing with voter suppression.
If all we talk about is Trump, Trump, Trump, I think he benefits.”
It is hard to think that these things are going on in government today as the next election draws closer.
2020 is right around the corner and lawmakers would do well to remember that their actions and conduct will be remembered in the coming months. People want to see the fighting stop and the policies and agendas of campaigns worked out for the best of the nation.
Sanders has also stated, “I think if he continues to not understand the Constitution of the United States, the separation of powers, the fact that the Congress has every right to subpoena and it is the job of the administration to attend the hearings that the Congress is calling, if he doesn’t understand that, it may well be time for an impeachment inquiry to begin where the Judiciary Committee begins to determine whether there are grounds for impeachment.”
Bernie Sanders is one who is cautious but has a fairly liberal platform.
His policies seek to destroy the very fabric that this nation was founded on. The President is someone that stands in his way of getting what he wants out of the American people.
The impeachment of the President would not be a smart move for the Democrats at this point in time.
