Justice Dems and BLM Can’t Agree on Kamala’s Senate Replacement

As you well know, the political left, being backed by their propaganda wing, AKA mainstream media, has pretty much announced Joe Biden and his pick for VP Kamala Harris as the winners of the 2020 presidential election. And as such, preparations are being made for a transition of leadership.

Among other things, this means that, supposedly, Kamala Harris will have to leave the Senate and assume her new position as America’s first woman vice president. Now, obviously, this leaves her Senate seat open for another Californian Democrat to fill until the remainder of her term is finished.

So who will take her place?

Well, the choice is officially up to California Governor Gavin Newsom. But, quite naturally, many would try to encourage him in one direction or another.

Let the infighting begin…

Now, we all know that the Democrat Party is already vastly split with progressives on one side and moderates on the other. But even among those, it seems there are disagreements to be made.

Take the very progressive Justice Democrats, for example.

This group was co-founded by New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s former chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, and outspoken Cenk Uygur. Their choice for Harris’s replacement is current US Representative Ro Khanna, who is a strong ally of AOC.

However, Black Lives Matter isn’t too keen on this choice. Naturally, BLM wants a black American, and a woman at that, to take Kamala’s place as Senator of California. In fact, in a petition to Gov. Newsom, the group stated that putting anyone other than a black woman in the seat was simply “nonnegotiable.”

They wrote, “We’re calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to appoint a Black woman to fill that seat. And like California Legislative Black Caucus, we’re pushing for the appointment of either Rep. Karen Bass or Rep. Barbara Lee as candidates or the position.”

The group added, “Appointing a Black woman to this seat is nonnegotiable – this must be done.”

They explained themselves by stating that as a governmental house, the Senate is supposed to be a “representation of the people.” They noted that after Harris leaves the seat, there will be not a “single Black woman in the Senate,” and that simply cannot be let to happen.

Therefore, they must replace Harris with someone of a similar heritage or race as to be a “proper representation of the people.”

And I have to admit; they do have somewhat of a point. Our nation has seen months and months of turmoil, all because of race and the supposed idea that Black lives aren’t as important as others in our nation’s capital. This makes choosing anyone other than a Black American to replace a Black woman in the Senate essentially a slap in the face to the entire Black Lives Matter movement.

And given the extreme unrest, the group has already caused, I’m not sure they would handle it really well if they were denied this wish. Besides, in their recent petition, they made sure to point out that they “showed up” for the Democrat vote, and now it was time Newsom and the Democrat Party returned the favor.

Then again, the Justice Democrats are no small part of the broader progressive movement that has kept the Democratic Party well-funded and in power the last few years. As it stands, this group has its hands in all sorts of pies that would move the Democrat agenda forward, from climate control to ending Big Industry.

And as such, their demands or wishes for government seats, be it Kamala’s Senate seat or Biden’s cabinet choices, cannot or should not be easily ignored.

But seeing as the Justice Democrats have made quite a few suggestions as to Biden’s would be administration and BLM has not, maybe they can be placated. As it stands now, the group has made suggestions for half of what is known as the Squad to be put on Biden’s cabinet in some fashion or another.

Ayanna Pressley has been named as Secretary of Transportation, while Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib could go to Housing and Urban Development.

Of course, all of this is predicated on an official Biden/Harris win…
